India won the toss and elected to bat against Australia

Ellyse Perry and Kim Garth will miss the ODI series against the World Cup champions India due to quad strains, while returning Australia captain Alyssa Healy begins her farewell tour in game one at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane.

Georgia Voll, slated to bat at No. 3, has been recalled to the ODI side after posting an 88 in the second T20I, standing out as Australia’s top performer in the series. Legspinner Alana King returns after being sidelined from T20I cricket, and Tahlia McGrath, who was omitted from the T20 selection, is back as well.

Perry and Garth picked up their injuries in the third T20I, leading to Megan Schutt and left-arm quick Lucy Hamilton being added to the squad.

Healy’s return injects experience for an Australia side trying to overcome a 4-2 deficit in the multi-format series after losing the T20 leg 2-1. She has not featured internationally since Australia’s surprising World Cup semifinal defeat to India in October.

Mooney will don the gloves for Australia, with Beth Mooney continuing as Australia’s full-time wicketkeeper.

India, opting to bat first under overcast skies, will reveal a reworked batting lineup. Pratika Rawal returns after knee and ankle injuries truncated her World Cup campaign and was a late addition to the ODI squad after initially being named only for the Tests.

Rawal is set to open alongside Shafali Verma at No. 3, while Kashvee Gautam, a seam-bowling allrounder, has earned a spot following strong performances in the Women’s Premier League.

India have yet to win an ODI series against Australia but arrive in optimistic mood, returning to the format for the first time since their memorable World Cup triumph.

Australia, meanwhile, will be buoyed by a storied home record at Allan Border Field, where they have won all 20 completed ODIs, including two wins over India in December 2024.

The match is set to be played in Brisbane’s humid conditions, with a possibility of early showers.

Australia XI: Alyssa Healy (capt), Phoebe Litchfield, Georgia Voll, Beth Mooney (wk), Annabel Sutherland, Ashleigh Gardner, Tahlia McGrath, Sophie Molienux, Alana King, Megan Schutt, Darcie Brown

India XI: Smriti Mandhana, Pratika Rawal, Shafali Verma, Harmanpreet Kaur (capt), Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh (wk), Deepti Sharma, Kashvee Gautam, Sree Charani, Kranti Gaud, Renuka Singh
